Being Open

Working as part of the Mission Control Team (MCT) at Maverick Consulting has taught me a lot about the meaning of being open. Being open is not limited to communication but rather it extends to one's mindset and approach to personal growth.
Being open to change hasn't always been my default, rather, relying on familiarity and routine has always been easier. But in a team like ours, where adaptability and mental flexibility are crucial, I’ve learnt to adopt new ideas, to challenge my preconceived notions. Be it taking on a different workflow, or shifting from outdated processes, I’ve come to view change as an opportunity to improve instead of being a disruption.
Constructive criticism has also been integral to this journey towards greater openness. With MCT, such criticism is sought out actively– it pushes us to challenge the status quo, to improve upon existing processes which may not serve us as well as they should have been.
Additionally, personal growth involves transparency and mutual trust between colleagues. Conflict is not swept under the rug, instead we talk through it and resolve it together. This process is not always easy, but it builds trusts between those who are willing to confront conflict openly.
Being truly open is the letting go of one’s pride, listening actively, and believing sincerely that there is always space for personal growth. As part of MCT, being open is what makes us resilient, adaptable, and ready for whatever comes next.
