One Mavericks At Mavericks

To me, a “team” is a group of people who collaborate, support each other, and grow together - and at Mavericks, this concept truly comes to life.
When I first joined Mavericks, I felt a bit different and unfamiliar with many things. It was the team members who helped me get up to speed with the company culture, life in Singapore, and even the local slang. Their support made it easy for me to feel part of the Mavericks family.
When I received a client interview opportunity, many teammates offered their guidance and encouragement, which gave me the confidence to do my best. And when I arrived in Singapore and started working face-to-face with colleagues, I realized they were not only great collaborators at work but also friends I could talk to, share joy with, and lean on in tough times.
Mavericks places a strong emphasis on team culture. We solve challenges together, but we also make time for fun — from escape rooms to hotpot dinners, movie nights, and celebrating holidays. These shared moments have made our bond even stronger.
When Mavericks moved from Somerset to Paya Lebar, everyone contributed actively to the process. Some packed and organized supplies, others moved heavy items, did cleaning, or helped with cable management. We all joined the discussion about the new office layout, and now the walls are decorated with photos from our gatherings - making the office a space
shaped by all of us, together. If we weren’t a true team, and everyone only cared about their
own comfort, we wouldn’t have ended up with such a spacious and well-organized office.
Even during team meals, we’re mindful of everyone’s culture and food preferences to ensure
everyone enjoys the experience. At Christmas, we exchange gifts - even with people we may
not know well — and that simple act helps bring us closer.
This is when you truly feel we are one team, not just “MCT + PS Team” :)
Even during the interview process, the sense of teamwork is clear. MCT share their reviews and flag areas to pay attention to in upcoming tech rounds. Tech interviewers, in turn, give feedback and consult with MCT if they have any doubts. Because some technical terms can be challenging to understand, MCT and developers even arrange joint sessions to clarify concepts and improve understanding. These collaborative efforts help make the entire recruitment process more effective and inclusive.
While working on the client project Corenet X, I also experienced the spirit of “One Team.” Although our large team was split into two squads (GitHub and Habibi), we always worked toward common goals with a unified mindset. For example, when addressing tech debt, we held tech retros to surface issues and brainstorm solutions together. Everyone proposed ideas and initiatives, and after careful trade-offs, we aligned on a final approach. During release cycles, DevOps collaborated closely with developers to ensure smooth and timely delivery. Our teamwork extended beyond just engineering. Designers often worked hands-on with developers and QA to refine user flows that balanced user experience with implementation feasibility. Managers also played a key role, actively guiding and supporting the team to keep the project on track. It was this cross-functional collaboration that kept the Corenet X ship sailing steadily and swiftly.
At Mavericks, teamwork is more than just a value - it’s something we live every day!
