I first came across Mavericks Consulting through my school job portal while searching for an internship opportunity. I applied for the Full-Stack Developer intern role and was fortunate to be given the chance to join the company.
Like most interns, I started out feeling both nervous and excited. I was stepping into a professional environment for the first time and was unsure whether I would be able to meet expectations. At the same time, I was looking forward to learning, contributing, and challenging myself. The internship turned out to be a meaningful and rewarding experience, but more importantly, it gave me clarity on the kind of environment I wanted to grow in after graduation.
One of the most valuable parts of the internship was having the chance to work on something real. I was responsible for a project that eventually became production ready. Being able to see actual users interact with something I contributed to was a very fulfilling experience. It reminded me that software development is not just about writing code, but about building something useful for people. That was one of the moments that made the experience especially meaningful to me.
At the same time, what stood out even more was how much I grew during the internship. When I first joined, I had only a limited understanding of Agile practices and still had a lot to learn technically. Throughout the internship, I was constantly given feedback, whether in terms of my technical work, the way I approached collaboration, or how I handled tasks within the team. What I appreciated was that the feedback was always constructive. It was given with the intention to help me improve, not just to point out mistakes. Over time, that helped me become more confident in both my technical skills and my Agile mindset.
That growth was one of the biggest reasons I decided to stay full-time.
Mavericks has a work culture that encourages continuous learning and improvement. I found that very important because I did not want to join a place where I would simply stay comfortable. I wanted to be in an environment that would push me to do better, while still giving me the support needed to improve. During my internship, I experienced exactly that. The work was challenging enough to keep me learning, but I was never left to struggle alone. There was always guidance, honest feedback, and support from the team.
Another major factor behind my decision was the people. From fellow interns to senior colleagues, everyone was approachable, helpful, and willing to share what they know. I never felt that asking questions was a burden. In fact, that openness made it much easier for me to learn and gain confidence. Having a supportive team matters a lot, especially early in your career, and that was something I genuinely valued during my time here.
I also choose Mavericks because of the opportunities it offers beyond just one role. Although I joined as a Full-Stack Developer Intern, I quickly realised that the company gives people room to grow in many directions. There are opportunities to take on new challenges, explore different responsibilities, and gain exposure to different areas of the IT industry. That was something that appealed to me because I want to keep expanding my skill sets and understanding of the field, instead of limiting myself too early.
More importantly, I felt aligned with the values that Mavericks believes in. The idea of building the right product and building the product right strongly resonated with me. It reflects both purpose and quality, which are two things I believe are important in software development. During my internship, I could see that this was not just a phase, but something reflected in the way the team works and makes decisions. That alignment gave me more confidence that Mavericks was the right place for me to continue my journey.
Overall, my internship experience was definitely challenging, but in a very fruitful way. It gave me practical experience, helped me build confidence, and showed me the kind of workspace culture that helps people grow. More than anything, it made my decision to convert from intern to full-time a natural one. I choose Mavericks because it is a place where I know I can continue learning, continue being challenged, and continue growing both professionally and personally.
