Getting to know our Mavericks - Mark

What is your role at Mavericks and what does it involve?

I am a software developer at Mavericks Consulting. I spend most of the day working on my assigned stories, seeking help when I need it and helping others when they need it. I'm also involved in interviewing candidates and attending meetings to discuss ongoing projects.

What motivates you at work everyday?

The work here at Mavericks is interesting, enjoyable and challenging. That motivates me at work to keep learning and giving my best. It has been a great experience at Mavericks thus far. I've been learning so much and that’s amazing!

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I dance.

What were you working as before joining Mavericks?

Before joining Mavericks, I worked as an Economic Consultant. However, I decided to make the switch to my current role because I was always passionate about coding.

How has the transition been like for you at Mavericks?

It's been great! Everyone has been extremely helpful and understanding of my knowledge gaps and do their best to keep me up to speed.

As someone that has made a career pivot into software development, is there any advice that you would like to share with others considering the same?

Completely throw yourself into the world of software development, give it all you got, and you will succeed!

What is your proudest moment / achievement at Mavericks thus far?

I was part of a team working on an app from inception to release and the feeling of seeing everything come together for release was my proudest moment at Mavericks.

What is a project that you are looking forward to taking on in the near future?

I hope to be posted out to work for a client and be involved in interesting projects.
