What is your role at Mavericks and what does it involve?
I am a Junior HR Consultant at Mavericks. My role and responsibilities mainly involve reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates. However, I do help out as much as I can in other areas such as the company’s social media. My day-to-day activities generally involve daily stand ups and regular meetings with the team for discussion.
How has your experience at Mavericks been thus far?
I have learnt a lot over the past few months in Mavericks! Everyone at Mavericks is really nice and approachable. They really helped me improve my interviewing skills by providing me with meaningful feedback and advice.
What motivates you at work everyday?
The working environment here really motivates me as everyone is really driven.
p.s. the food near the office is also one of my favourite motivation
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
A fun fact about me is that I don’t like wasabi.
What is a motto you live by?
The motto I live by is “Think Positive and Be Brave”.
What is your proudest moment / achievement at Mavericks thus far?
The proudest moment for me would be the time when my colleagues told me that I have improved throughout the course of my time in Mavericks or when they complimented me on what I did well.
How has the process of coming into HR been like for you?
Coming into HR really changes my perspective of what HR is like. In school, I only learnt about the concepts which are easy to grasp but when I joined Mavericks, I realised that trying to internalise certain soft skills as well as hard skills can be hard. Additionally, I also learn to prioritise and better manage multiple tasks which is something that I really struggled with initially.
What advice do you have for prospective candidates interested to join Mavericks and
the Hiring Team?
Even if you come from an entirely different field of study like me, in Mavericks, you will always gain something precious or unexpected out of this experience!
